In Paris, Mayor Bertrand Delanoe "condemned in the strongest terms the unacceptable incidents which disturbed the gay pride march today in Moscow."
Delanoe called them "grave attacks on respect for human rights and for individual identity, contrary to the basic principles of a democratic nation".

Pilippe Lasnier, who was heading a delegation from the office of Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, was briefly arrested.
"At the moment when Russia is taking over the presidency of the Council of Europe we are concerned because the Russian authorities haven't shown the will to respect human rights, in particular the rights of minorities and freedom of expression," said Clementine Autain, one of Delanoe's aides.

Gay Pride parade organizers determined to hold it in Moscow
In the light of the recent denial of the Mayor of Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, to allow a demonstration in favour of gay rights outside the Parliament building, Moscow Gay Pride organizers reaffairmed their determination to hold a Gay Pride in Moscow on May 27th.
Official request to hold the march will be sent to Moscow authorities on May 15th as the local law requires.
"We plan to hold our procession on Saturday, May 27, roughly at 3:00 p.m., right after the end of a conference to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, which will take place at Moscow's Swissotel," Alexeyev said.
Organizers confirm that they expect almost 100 people to take part from abroad to the various event of the festvail. They claim that at least 20 countries will be represented in this International event that his already seen as a repetition of the forthcoming ILGA 2010 conference that the same organizers will hodl in Moscow exactly 4 years after this first pride.
"ILGA 2010 will take part during what we hope to be the 5th Moscow LGBT Pride. We are thinking of applying for the World Pride on that occasion" told Nikolai Baiev, a gay activist.
The recent result of a poll conducted by Leva Centre for GayRussia.Ru shows that 49 per cent said that the authorities should decisively suppress the homophobic public statements of Mufti Tadjuddin versus only 28% who did not support criminal prosecution.
"This result shows that despite what people think, Russian are not as homophobic as advertized" said Nikolai Alexeyev.
"Luzhkov is suported by religious leaders who are not supported by the majority of believers" he added.
"All the logictis and organization of the event is going as planned" he ended.
The Gay Pride is part of the International Moscow Pride Festival that amon several events includes a conference of Merlin Holand, Oscar Wilde's Grandson, a 2 days International Conference against homophobia, a Nordic Festival with IGLCN and a closing party with French Singer "Desireless".
