ゲイのパルプ・フィクション／ペーパーバックのカヴァーをコレクションしたサイトがあったので紹介しておきたい（via.b:id:gnarly）。

• Gay pulp fiction [Sex?]

チープで扇情的なカヴァーは、どことなく趣（ノスタルジア）がある。内容は、多分、さして「過激」ではないだろう。昔はコーネル・ウールリッチやレイモンド・チャンドラー、パトリシア・ハイスミスも（アガサ・クリスティでさえも！）、こういったケバケバしい──趣のある──デザインだった。

それで Amazon で検索したら、いにしえのパルプフィクション風味──ダーク・ノスタルジア──の本がいくつかあった。

これってどこかで見たことのあるカヴァーデザインだなと思っていたら……そうそう、『OUT』（September 2001）に紹介記事があったのだった（「Pulp VIXEN」 by Ronni Radner）。

Ronni Radner "Pulp VIXEN"

面白いのが、Fritz Peters 著『Finistère』のシグネット版。まるでハヤカワ・ポケット・ミステリ（通称ポケミス）だ！　もちろんポケミスが Signet Book を参考にしたのだろう。

パルプフィクション（ハードボイルド／パルプマガジン／ノワール）一般については、小鷹信光『ブラック・マスクの世界１〜５巻』（国書刊行会）が参考になる。

はじめてパルプ誌を読み、あまりの低俗さやIQの低さにいらだちをおぼえてもあきらめてはいけない。＜Black Mask＞＜Bluebook＞＜Adventure＞＜Hardboiled＞といった質の高い雑誌を試してごらんなさい。
