国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)のゼップ・ブラッター会長／Sepp Blatter が「危険なタックルは永久追放処分＆刑事罰に課す」と述べたことは国内ニュースでも報じられたようだが、しかし海外ニュースでは別の発言がクローズアップされている。

However, his subsequent remark could well make bigger headlines, as he insists 'gay footballers' need to come out, so to speak, and not hide their sexual orientation.
He insists that male professionals should learn from their female counterparts, and not fear alieanation in the locker room.
"There are gay footballers but they don't declare it because they think it will not be accepted in these macho organisations," he said. "Look at women's football: homosexuality is more popular there."
最初これ読んだとき「何言ってんだ、こいつ」と思った。要するに……ゲイのフットボール選手は、自分の性的指向を隠してないでゲイだってことをカムアウトしようぜ。そして（ストレートの）男子選手も女子チームを見習おうじゃないか、ロッカールームで”alieanation”（エイリアンの派生語？）を怖がってないでさ。ゲイの選手は（実はそれなりに）いるんだけど、「オレはゲイだ」なんて言ったら（男子サッカーチームのような）マッチョな組織では受け入れてもらえないと思っていて、それを言うことができないでいる。でも女子サッカーチームを見てごらん、同性愛は（男子チームと比べて）ずっとポピュラーだ……。
で、イヴ・Ｋ・セジウィックの本でも送り付けてやろうと思ったんだが。ま、この人、過去にもいろいろと「無責任な」面白いことを言っているようだし、ゲイ・ブログでもそれなりにこのブラッター発言を面白がっているようだし。
ところで、このブラッター発言を取り上げたゲイ・メディアによると、FIFAは「レズビアン-ゲイ・ワールド・サッカー・チャンピオンシップ」をサポートしているようだ。

Gay and lesbian teams began to appear almost three decades ago and the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association was formed to act as a governing body for the sport.
The tournament will be held in London later this year.
Leftfooters FC won its bid to host the championship earlier last year after IGLFA officials visited facilities at Regents Park.
Ten 11-a-side pitches and six 7-a-side pitches have been reserved for the event, which is supported by the Football Association, Westminster City Council, gay equality organisation Stonewall, the Mayor of London and Visit London.
Then Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ming Campbell, former sports minister Richard Caborn and Alan Keen MP also backed London's successful bid.
